An overwhelming majority of commenters on this thread agree that families have it tougher when a soldier deploys. I have to agree. I remember my first tour in Korea and it was a bloody cake walk. Essentially guys on deployment away from their families simply revert to being little boys. We just sort of carouse and pass the time aimlessly without much conscious thought. EvilPidge (updates are a good thing you tubby bitch!) and I spent most of a year playing Doom and X...

Xtine's commentary in this recent article has led me to consider the real effects of soldier deployment on familiies. Since I am personally only capable of elocuting the results of deployment on a soldier I thought I would put the question to the JU comuunity at large: Is it harder on the the family left behind or for the soldier who is deployed? Responses can take any form you like and I will even leave this one open to SPM's crowd in case they feel like adding some...

While skiming the forums I came across this little gem.  The author of the quoted piece rambles on about the sacrifices that the families of American soldiers face as our war on terror rages on. As I had just gotten off the phone from explaining to my daughter on Christmas eve that Daddy was going to Iraq for a while I had little fucking sympathy for the "sentiments" this raging tool had to offer. Look ass, if you have a better fucking plan post that instead of y...

Men obviously did not come up with the Christmas tradition of gift wrap. Well at least this man didn't. My attempts at wrapping gifts fare slightly worse than the Boondock Saints' Tourette's afflicted bartender would if he were to read Sylvia Plath poems to a group of Carmelite nuns . I think women learn this skill while still in the womb as even 4 year old girls do a better job of it than this 31 year old man. Merry Christmas.

Hey I support your right to use JU in any way you see fit. Let me say though that when you disable commentary you tremendously diminish my desire to read anything you write... master or not... This is a community of commenters in general so your toughts will reach more people when you allow comments... Just a thought.

While the title pretty much says it all but I really can't emphasize the differences between the Russian version of "everything she said" and the English enough! Kazaa for the Russian video if you are interested.

Well I got my new DCU's back from Jen's Cleaners today (the Army would grind to a halt without Korean tailor shops) and decided to finally offer up some pictures of me on my blog before I deployed. Enough hiding I say! Let the ugly truth be known! So without further ado... me and my DCU's      Additionally I am amazed at the high quality bnody armor that they gave me. The Intercepter OTV... The vest alone will stop up to 9mm rounds... ...

Well here is a story you won't find Peter Jennings covering any time soon. Ever since I volunteered to deploy and was selected to actually do so a group of my fellow soldiers have been quite vocal about their jealousy. Yes thats right folks we want to go . This is why we joined the Army, to deploy and protect our nations interests as directed by the Commander in Chief.      Everyone from SGT Tumult , SPC Hillbilly Goat-molester, the Pokekorean...

Chiprj seems to be the latest victim of the MMORPG bug. He was taken up with World of Warcraft. Alas poor Yorick I knew him well...      Time for an intervention.      Chip is far from the first casualty to the Massively Multiplayer Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) industry. When I was in Korea we had legions fo guys who were totally addicted to EverQuest. These soldiers would leave work, (often not even changing out of uniform)...

The Truth Laid Bear has a fairly unique system of ranking blogs against other blogs in their Ecosystem. I have been a member for some time now ( with a current ranking of  “Slithering Reptile”) and I find it to be an instructive way to compare how many blogs do traffic and other wise.      Now to be fair they are just using the same stats from Sitemeter.com (they provide that little number at the bottom of my articles) but they are ...

Went over to the Central Issue Facility (CIF) today and got me a large bag of new Desert Combat Uniforms (DCU's ), various hot/cold weather items, 2 new pairs of Desert boots (thank you GEN Schwartzkopf!), and a spanking new set of revamped body armor complete with ballistic plates of the type described by Wanderer here .      Now in the past I have had bad experiences with CIF due to high demand, but now since most of Ft. Hood is alr...

For those of you out there who enjoy a good roguelike game now and again... I would urge you to check out A.D.O.M. The learning curve is steep (brutal actually) and your characters will drop like flies but it is a hell of a game:) The author is working on a anew version of it called JADE and is actually updating his bloody website once in a while.

I love to read the Pope hold forth on moral issues for the most part because I feel he is a pretty well-meaning sort. The last few years have changed this perception somewhat as more and more pedophile priests are uncovered along with Diocese-spanning conspiracies to cover up said scandals. Had the Pope thundered away regarding this worst sort of abomination (I put murder behind child rape) he might have a bit more relevancy when he condemns the growth of materialism in ...

No I am not leaving JU. I am however leaving Texas to deploy to an undisclosed location in Iraq in two weeks time along with our LT. It will be nice to see Talisein and many of my deployed friends and fellow soldiers. Additionally I will have another chance to serve with SFC Calangelo! I am not sure how much JU access I will have over there (Tal seems to do ok) but I will try and keep in touch as much as I can. Now, packing up the house!

Here is a little example of the bankruptcy of the European attitude towards "Palestine", a country which by the way does not even exist! A father abducts his 5 kids and takes them to the West Bank claiming "he wants them raised under strict Koranic law" and then offers to ransom them back to their mother for arounf 700,000 dollars. Praise Allah!      Now you may ask why the Mossad and Swiss Special Forces are not conducting a rescue op at this very...
