(Note : This is total whining on my part. I am a pussy.)      We have two shower facilities in walking distance of our hangar. The closest is about 2 minutes away from the hangar and is sponsored and maintained by out unit and thusly the Army. It has no toilet facility for males (yes the chicks have real flushing toilets of course), shower stalls built for hobbitts, one water heat (only partially functional), and one light bulb for all 6 shower sta...

Want to keep your kid from looking at porn on the Internet (when they actually want porn I mean)? Here are two sure-fire tools to make this happen... Ready?   1. Do not allow your kid unsuperised access to the Net. Ever. If your kid can masturbate to porn with you watching him then your childs issues would be better dealt with by institutionalization. OR 2. Do not allow them acces to the Net at all. Ever.   There ya go folks. ...

Here at our little garden spot deep in the heart of Iraq we no longer react to explosions for the most part. You see the Explosive Odinance Disposal range is right in front of the hangar in which we live and work. This results in 10-15 "controlled blasts" each and every day. This is so commonplace that we are no longer able to tell if the explosions are from incoming mortars (also common but poorly aimed) or from the EOD folks.      The common rea...

Time for a bit less serious topic... I was never a big NCAA basketball fan until I got to Iraq and had nothing to do but follow sports that I usually don't have time for back home. So without further ado : Yes New Mexico in the Championship game is a bit of a Cinderella story waiting to happen but I think Granger can take them there. No one is beating Wake Forest though. Got Beef? Post yer own in the comments!

Two minutes ago from my co-worker a 98C Intelligence Analyst with almost 4 years in the field, she holds a TS/SCI clearance and is a Non-commissioned Officer: "Where's Israel?" Standards? Not here. Excuse me while I slam my head into a wall for a bit.

Update : Glenn Reynolds  has a link to this article on life extension (worth the click) which adds to the meat of this article.       There is a debate brewing in this nation between traditional values groups and the transhumanists. Simply put the transhumanists would like to push the human race forward through use of genetic engineering, nanotech, and cloning while traditionalists would prefer not to tinker with such matters fo...

Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice just told George Stephanopoulos on This Week that she "Will not run for President. Is that clear enough?". Well through a veil of bitter tears and sundered political dreams I must concede that it is in fact enough. Would have been grand though.

With the current flp over “ counter-recruiting ” I thought I should give the Army it’s due. I joined the Army in 1992 and it has been pretty kind to me. So far they have sent me to:   Ft. Jackson, South Carolina (Basic) The Presidio of Monterey (DLI for a bit over a year) CP Humphreys, South Korea (Work, can’t say much about it) Fort Meade, MD (Working for No Such Agency) Cp Humphreys, South Korea (4 ...

This should settle it. Of course some lunatics will insist that Bush bought off all of Italys or something equally senseless. Mario Marioli, a deputy commander of the US-led coalition troops in Iraq, was quoted by the Italian newspaper La Repubblica as saying: "I asked Calipari if I should inform our American allies of the hostage-freeing operation, but his reply was that under no circumstances was the ally to be informed."   Update : Her...

Just a quick note here... While the Bible certainly has many great points using it as "proof" of God's will is a double edged sword. Want to justify slavery? Use the following: Exodus 21:2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant , six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. 21:7 And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do. Deuteronomy 15:12 And if thy brother, an...
