IMHO

There has been a recent spate of fake blogging by piesnpies, anti-stalk, and fiksated. These are all the same person blogging under different names. While it is pretty apparent that they are mentally deranged simply from their article "content" they are also indulging in a bit of decption by occasionally pretending to be different people as demonstrated here. Proof that they are the same person? Here, here, and here. Hell if it weren't for the articles UK slant I would have thought they were all products of Tracy Givens deluded brain!

My point? Well I don't mind people blogging here under different names (hey give all the schizoid personalities free reign I say!) but I think that the attempt to drum up interest in lame articles by pretending to be other people who are supporting your position is disingenous at best and retarded at worst. Certainly deserves a bit of time-out in my opinion and perhaps even a small entry into the TOS? Maybe just a large trolling?

What do you think of this sort of JU abuse?

I had considered creating a second log-in to make a second blog dealing with entirely game-related topics (FWIW, not really computer or console games, mostly tabletop miniatures, CCGs and RPGs (with dice! not computers)). However, I wouldn't comment on my own articles with the secondary (alt) account, and actually probably wouldn't comment anywhere with it. It would be solely for adding a different flavor of content.
On a side note [/DY], I agree with you about the alt accounts abuse.

chuckle

I was pretty sure that would be your opinion on this. I mean this sort of thing would lend itself to easy abuse of the "Insightful" system as well.

Thank you for pointing this out, greywar. I hadn't made the connection between them all, but I knew immediately that all of those "stalking" articles were from some deranged mind.

I agree that the admins need to take some action against this person(s) soon. Not only is it ripe for abuse, but the flood of articles in the side bar is getting tiresome.

Oddly, that was enough to get an Insightful from me.

I mean, seriously, I already feel disenfranchised by only being able to hand out ~5 ratings, positive or negative, per day. But I guess I could make multiple log-ins and push an article to the moon? blah

But I guess I could make multiple log-ins and push an article to the moon?

I have a feeling that this is one of the big reasons the automated syndication system is not in place yet.

I think having those three copy articles wasn't exactly right, nor is it when people post gibberish eight times in an evening. But having said that, I also think it's their blog and so long as it isn't hurting anyone I don't see it as being a problem. On the other hand, if anyone wants to make another username or four and run different blogs on different topics with them I don't see that as being a either problem. Unless they deny they are who they are, that's bad. And that's my opinion on this matter. Not that my opinion matters, since Draginol/Frogboy/Brad's opinion is final arond here

And this is an interesting point (was it a point you were trying to make? You didn't actually address it, just mention it in passing). The redeeming qualities in this example are:
1) He doesn't hide that he's the same person.
2) He doesn't (seem to) abuse the fact that he can post multiple comments/give Insightfuls (although he probably has an unlimited amount, so it's not really necessary).
3) er, he owns the site anyway?

Actually, those were my points pseudosoldier, but I kept it vague just for fun

Fair enough.

' What do you think of this sort of JU abuse?'

I think in the context of the several flavours of abuse flung about here it's pretty benign. It wasn't that long ago that the owner of this site mocked the lack of hate in my posts (sample quote: "Your posts don't have hate. Good for you."), you were kneecapping me, and other bloggers referred to my dispassionate style in crowning me their "robotic Canadian overlord". Frankly Greywar, I think you thought I was somewhat of a pussy by being civilized in online debate. Anyhoo, fuck you and your circle jerk of suicidal drama queens, illiterate fascists, amoral nihilists, and rabid warmongers.

Yours in the celebration of the Christ child,

That's just what it is.

I see that his 'absence of hate' phase didn't last too long.....

David, I asked you to email me, and you never did.  Will you please drop me a line?

As far as I can recall, one person having multiple accounts is in violation of the Terms of Service. At least that was the reason that was given for a certain member who was banned months ago (that ban has since been lifted). So I certainly think some action should be taken.

pseudosoldier: You could always make a blog group to post your gaming stuff. It would still be you, and would be part of your main account, but you could post separate stuff there. It would have its own subdomain. For example, chiprj created a blog group to post his military stuff to. I have one that I post my music articles too (the-prog-geek.joeuser.com. Each account can also have one group associated with it. Might be a decent work around.
