Jointly written with Pseudosoldier.

Would you classify the following drinks as masculine, feminine, both or neither:

Beer (Be it MGD, Killian's, Shiner Bock, or what have you.... = obviously masculine
Black Russian = Masculine but academic
Cape Cod = Feminine all the way yet tasty!
Screwdriver = Feminine!
Vodka, straight = Masculine, must be drunk while singing the old soviet national anthem (the new Russian one has no panache)
White Russian = Very feminine
Wine = Neither but definately effete or academic

The questions were posed by Pseudosoldier and answered by me so all blame is mine and all credit is his.

No digital camera, and lack of interest on putting my mug on the Internet: signs point to "no." Sorry.
Friday night: "First Friday" in Augusta. A couple of drinks (not too many), including a Suffering Bastard, and a terribly weak Long Island Tea.
Saturday night: The realization that MB is a better bar drinker than me, as he enjoys punishment shots, girl drinks and switching things up (and by "switching things up", I mean...). Start with a shot of good tequila, head to Three Wise Men, a Jack and coke, a kamikaze, a Buttery Nipple, a Jack and coke... um. Something else. Finding out that he was a shot of Jack and a shot of tequila ahead of me... going to take those shots... deciding to go home... heh.
I think we just have to go with Jack and coke next time, to provide a more even footing for the event. His drinking style allows the switch-up, but mine more involves a single bottle of liquor in an empty room, so I'd have to train up to catch him on his turf.

Wow.  I'd have puked, mixing it up like that. Heck, I'd have yakked after the tequila.  Is he a big guy?  I mean, his body mass?  I sure hope so....

I have a funny story about Long Island Iced Teas.  Lonesome went out with the boys before he left last year, and was worried about what to drink because he hadn't imbibed for a while - months, if not years.  He usually drank jack and coke, but thought that whiskey might be too rough on a stomach unused to alcohol...so he, in all his wisdom, settles on Long Island Teas as his beverage of choice instead.  Ok, there's waaay more alcohol in that than a Jack and coke....but Lonsome didn't think about that, obviously. He knocked back 6 of them.  I worked out the amount of liquor he consumed the next day as he was laying in the passenger seat of the car, feeling like he was going to puke and pass out all at the same time....it came to close to a fifth.

The more you tell me about you, the more I think you and Lonsome would do really well together.

MB doesn't mass that much... 60 pounds less than me, actually (but I'm a bit over the Army tableweight). He's just better versed at that sort of "punishment" drinking. He has been practicing hard the past couple of months, "babysitting" the wife of a friend who is deployed (needs to keep her out of trouble, and she won't act up if he's there).
He was glad to see me go on Saturday, though, as the alcohol was speeding its way through his system. If we had sat awhile longer, I could've gotten him (if only on body mass).

Mike's Hard Cranberry Lemonade... because it's what my wife had left in the fridge.

Mike's Hard Cranberry Lemonade... because it's what my wife had left in the fridge.

Did ya put a cherry and a little umbrella in it?

I'm sticking to my Rolling Rock from now on.  I did some shots last Friday and regretted it until yesterday.  I'm just too old to drink like that anymore....my body doth protest waaaay to much.

There was no fruit involved, nor protection from rain.

Old Crow and Diet Pepsi tonight (not too much, though, as tomorrow is double PT).

Old Crow and Diet Pepsi tonight

Jeezus....are you trying to give yourself an ulcer?

All I have is Bud Light.  I have a headache, so I'm not drinking tonight; that'll make it worse.

Are you home now for a while, or are you scheduled to go off again?

Oh, and anytime you're close to St Louis after Sep 1st, let Dave and I know.  We'll take you out and see if we can all keep up with each other!

Reminds me of an old Futurama qoute "I'll have a fuzzy navel and make her your girliest drink." "Two fuzzy navels comin' up."

Cheers

Old Crow and Diet Pepsi tonight

as manly a drink as they come...

on Jul 20, 2004
dharma - I've managed to avoid the ulcer so far, but there have been multiple times I've brought antacid to work. Hmm... White Russians with antacid instead of milk... and it'd have that natural minty taste, too! Bonus!
Additionally, I'm not going anywhere for awhile. Not even if I wanted to. So, no chances of getting together. Besides, you wouldn't know me if you saw me.

greywar - Thought about going with Diet Cherry Coke and Old Crow, but that wouldn't be as manly, right? And I'm all out of Crow now... switch to Bacardi? And mix it with... Grape Juice?

Dave goes to Texas a lot....and you're prolly one of the only people I'd trust him to go drinking with (and greywar)

Yeah, you still didn't come through with that picture, did ya?  Here I am, posting my heart out with pictures of our fellow bloggers, and yet you still can't find one measly photo of yourself.  Even grey managed to come up with one...a nice grainy one that most people would never be able to identify him from without use of forensics....but he still came up with the goods.  Are you really going to let him get one up on you like that?  Or are you afraid?  And do you realize I just used 3 interview techniques in order to induce you into sending me a picture of yourself?  That's sad.

You're a tough nut to crack, Pseudo.  If you're not careful, I'll have to pull out some of the techniques I use on Dave to get what I want.  Then again, you're married, so you're prolly immune to those as well.

Nicely done, the last bit there, reminding me that I'm not as anonymous as I like to think.
Also, grey and I don't "go" to drink. It's more of a "stay and" scenario.

I wandered in a bit late on this one. reminds me alot of high school, and a few times since then (just a few). My favorite drinks would probably be classified as girly--Malibu Rum, pineapple & cranberry juice; Kahlua and coffee (one of the only ways I like coffee).

Of course, I also drank vodka alot, mixed in anything I was drinking to hide the fact that I was drinking it, but not straight. The one time I drank it straight was the first time I got buzzed, and that was after 4 triple shots(4 small glasses basically) of Johnny Walker Red, a glass (regular size) of Malibu and fruit punch, a glass of Kahlua and milk, and it was a couple of small glasses of the vodka. I really shouldn't have let them dare me into that one.

Incidentally that was the only time I ever played strip poker.......I think it might have been related.

Aye, those first two drinks you list (especially the very first) bear the mark of the dread girly drink! Arr, Monobrow'd be proud!

Arr.

Well just when I thought I could never drink to much Tequilla my friends showed me the bottle this morning that was brand new last night and only 7 or 8 other people had shots of....I think it's time for a behavior change. Or at least switch to shots of apple juice or water.

Ugh!
