On April 1 Gmail posted a little April Fool's joke called the "Infinity +1" storage solution. It was supposed to allow unlimited storage for all users. Of course this was just for launghs put in reality Gmail did in fact double it's already massive 1GB of free storage to 2GB+ and it increases every second as they add more space. Observe :

That is an astonishing number even for a pay service much less a free one. Can Yahoo, Hotmail, etc... even hope to compete with this? Google's business acumen leaves me stunned.

Douglas -

thats for individual accounts

It is also for all of Yahoo mail if the shareholders want it that way. Yahoo (and almost everyone else online) owes you nothing acording to their EULA and TOS. Nothing.

why are they holding back making it completely open?

Builds hype and makes it seem more "leet" (and it has worked).

Meowy -

Mac or Linux could take over any time now.

Nice, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time

Zoomba -

GMail is here to stay.

Perhaps it is even here to pwn!

No, the Mac market is rising.

You can find Mac at BestBuy now too.

And Linux is getting more popular also. Notice that alot of people here have a Linux machine or Dualboot.

Well, anyway:
Gmail lets you send and recieve big files: I tried to send over 5 megabytes of stuff to a Hotmail addy and I got a message back from the server saying that Hotmail doesnt accept large file sizes, but when sending it elsewhere, it worked.

Gmail lets you send and recieve big files

makes it very very useful for ummm "trading" large files...

What I really like about GMAIL is that they are composing multiple-replied mailing lists e-mail with one similar topic into one composed letter with all historical path intacts.
And use OPERA, you won't see the AdSense
And the ability to search your old letters are cool enough.
I wonder, when will google make their own OS ?

I have a G.Mail account ..but theres very little stuff that i use it for ... i will say this ..it seems more now than ever that if you offer people a bone, they will freely hand over all their freedoms, Hitler and those from the past had the idea of forced oppression.the fools!!!!... why go to war ? just offer a few trinkets and baubles and peeps will fall over them selves to hand over their rights and freedoms ...

i remember when a contract was considered by law to be invalid if it violated personal rights. now employers do it daily " if you want the job" you must hand over your freedoms... I dont believe theres a conspiracy.. but remember the more "little" freedoms handed away .. brings you that much closer to oppression and slavery..soon you will only be free to do as "your boss, goverment and buisnesses allow".

yes giving up freedoms is a big deal. many people died to earn the freedoms "people today" easily dismiss.

"all gave some,some gave all"
