Fix it or Fuck it.

Want to guarantee further losses in the next election? Just continue to allow guys like Ted Rall to speak for you folks. Don’t bitch about your party when you let assclowns like this rule the roost. Some money quotage from his latest screed: (along with a touch of Fisk powder from yours truly… all bold and emphasis mine)

Would Bush's supporters have voted for him even if they had known he was a serial liar? Perhaps their hatred of homosexuals and slutty abortion vixens (yeah that war on terror meant nothing Teddy – G.)would have prompted them to make the same choice--an idiotic perversion of priorities (interesting choice of words – G). As things stand, they cast their ballots relying on assumptions that were demonstrably false.

Educational achievement doesn't necessarily equal intelligence. After all, Bush holds a Harvard MBA. Still, it bears noting that Democrats are better educated than Republicans. (So if it doesn’t mean anything to have a degree what is the point of this? -G. )You are 25 percent more likely to hold a college degree if you live in the Democratic northeast than in the red state south. Blue state voters are 25 percent more likely, therefore, to understand the historical and cultural ramifications of Bush's brand of bull-in-a-china-shop foreign policy. (I think you have something there Ted…. they do know what it means and fear that those results will point up their own history of abject fucking failure to do anything useful in foreign policy arena – G.)

Inland Americans face a bigger challenge than coastal "cultural elitists" when it comes to finding high-quality news coverage. The best newspapers, which routinely win prizes for their in-depth local and national reporting and staffers overseas, line the coasts. So do the cable TV networks with the broadest offerings and most independent radio stations. Bush Country makes do with Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity syndicated on one cookie-cutter AM outlet after another. Citizens of the blue states read lackluster dailies stuffed with generic stories cut and pasted from wire services. (So Ted what you are saying is that liberal states have the same acess to media as red states? Do you even know a proofreader? -G) Given their dismal access to high-quality media, it's a minor miracle that 40 percent of Mississippians turned out for Kerry. (Ah! Had they only seen more ads! They must not have known that Kerry served in Vietnam! That’s the ticket! – G)

So our guy lost the election. Why shouldn't those of us on the coasts feel superior (Oh Ted that is too easy… Don’t give me these sorts of softballs, you can do better…-G.)? We eat better, travel more, dress better, watch cooler movies (Why aren’t the quality of voters cinema selections a requirement for franchise? Huh? -G. ), earn better salaries, meet more interesting people, listen to better music and know more about what's going on in the world (Unless of course you count what is going on in our own borders where we of course were living in a fucking fantasy until Nov 2 -G) . If you voted for Bush, we accept that we have to share the country with you (How kind, fuckpole -G.). We're adjusting to the possibility (hmmm not so good with the math apparently Ted… I think there were several million more on election day which makes it more than a “possibility” -G. ) that there may be more of you than there are of us. But don't demand our respect (Don’t need to demand it flocko. We already own it. That’s what happens when you lose elections… you bow to the will of the winning majority… so bow down Nancy-boy – G.). You lost it on November 2. (Well someone did lose…. -G.)

I hate Ted Rall. He makes me sick. I've actually known that he is a vile, insane, sniveling, moaning, self-obsessed piece of shit for a long time now, and I have to avoid reading his stuff or seeing his cartoons because he causes me to feel a lot of unhealthy rage.

A bastion of nonsense. Pure lunacy, I say!

One thing I've noticed about you, Tex, is you try hard to call an asshat an asshat.

A bastion of nonsense. Pure lunacy, I say!

And I wonder... does she mean Rall or greywar? I think it's a coin toss.

edit: For the record (and because of some bitching from grey at work), I'd like to clarify that I meant "I think it's a coin toss which one she means," not, "I think it's a coin toss for which one is the asshattest." Although I would still cite grey as an example of "a bastion of nonsense" and "pure lunacy."

Who says he speaks for us? The right blows his words up and purports him to be amongst Democratic mainstream. If it weren't for the right making a big deal out of this guy, noone would know who the hell he was.

Who says he speaks for us?

Anyone reading the New York Times maybe? When Dems mount a letter writing/boycott campaign to dismount Rall from his place as the most prominent Leftist cartoonist in the world maybe then I would beleive you.

right making a big deal out of this guy, noone would know who the hell he was.

Yeah except for that major newspaper syndication thing. Also I find it amusing that you think making a "big deal" over a nationally syndicated cartoonist  who call's Condi Rice a "House Nigger" and spews vitriolic bullshit in nearly every strip or column is something that shouldn't be done A trifle out of touch perhaps?

*More* than a trifle I would think.

I can't believe he honestly thinks that everyone in the red states only listens to Rush Limbaugh! Does he not think we have NEWSPAPERS? Which, believe it or not, have the exact same national/international stories and articles as those in New York City? Or are we too dumb to know how to read!? Maybe that's it. We need someone to break it all down for us. We just cannot think on our own. I mean, heaven forbid we could actually look at the EXACT SAME FACTS as the blue states and yet come to different conclusions by... (oh my god!) THINKING OVER THE INFORMATION! We are NOT cookie-cutter Bush-worshippers who just do whatever we're told! My god, he is so arrogant! And how dare he assume that all blue-staters are cultured and all red-staters are farmer hillbillies? Does he not realize that a HUGE percentage of the Democratic vote comes NOT from the Harvard elite, but from the urban poor? Do you think those people are well informed, well travelled, listen to Mozart, and go to the theatre every Saturday? NO! And yet somehow, the Democrats are the poor, misunderstood intellectuals, forced to bend to the will of the idiotic masses!

Oh, god, I'm going on a tangent here. I have GOT to leave before I go on an hour-long tangent or something. Just had to say my piece and vent my spleen a little. Toodles!

For clearity's sake, I was speaking of Rall not greywar. I think you knew that however.

All right, Ill most likely get a response biting my head off and calling me all sorts of names, but I feel compelled to ask you. You say that Ted Rall speaks for us, and he is important because hes a syndicated cartoonist. Well, what about Ann Coulter? She is a published writer, and she is a right-wing loony convinced liberals are evil. Does she not count?
on Nov 27, 2004

Well, what about Ann Coulter?

A partisan hack...

You make the start of a good point NJ but... She did not help conservatives lose the election either... you know why? because we won... there lies the primary difference... While I think Coulter is far to the right of my personal politics (and certainly far to the right of yours) she does seem to be in touch with a far greater chunk of the American people than Rall is.... also being publishing a few columns or writing books does not quite equal being a primary syndicated cartoonist for the Grey Lady

So you're only wrong if you're on the losing side? Ann Coulter is not just someone who is "publishing a few columns or writing books." She is writing syndicated columns read nationally, she writes for magazines and her books are on the best seller list.

Did you read the article that got her fired from covering the Democratic convention for USA Today? Vitrol filled crap that started out calling Democrats the spawn of Satan. The right cried how Michael Moore wasn't fired for being biased. What was his outrageous article? He pointed out that New York isn't as liberal as the right makes it out to be because the mayor of New York, the Governor and a US Senator are Republican.

umm only when we are talking about why a side lost... i think that should have been blatantly obvious?

Actually grey, i love folks like Ted Rall

Well from a partisan perspective i do as well.... Teddy does more damage in a single breath to the liberal cause than I could wreak in a lifetime... nonetheless my conscience keeps making me point out these obvious weaknesses to the Dems even though they seem to prefer screedy ignorance.

I guess it's all about who is the louder loony. As for a letter writing campaign to oust Rall, then I suppose you'd have to admit that a letter writing campaign to oust someone like Coulter, Limbough or O'Reilly would be acceptible. They are all lunatic fringes, only that they come from the right side of the aisle. Oust the ones you don't want to here, is that what I here you saying? Am I detecting a double standard here?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I think so...................

I beg to differ, many times people have elected the "wrong" candidate. Look at Bill Clinton elected and then impeached, or Nixon! Need I say more about him?

Sincerely,
