Apparently no one would want to hear about this story.

Update : There appear to be some folks reading this who think that this article is critical of Air America Radio... it is NOT! AAR may not be the most smoothly run business in the world but that is not the heart of the issue. The issue here is the complete lack of any reporting on this from the MSM. Had this been EIB and the Boy Scouts as suggeted in the commentary discussion the MSM would have been on it like stink on shit regardless of when the funding was done or if the idiot responsible had already been fired. I will admit that the headline to the article is a bit sensational but oh well... sure me:)

For those who have not heard about it elsewhere Air America (a very liberal leaning talk radio network headlined by Al Franken and Garofalo) was caught a few weeks ago in a financial scandal in which it received just under $1 million that was intended for needy children (this was money diverted as "loans" from a charity by political supporters with pull in said charity).

Of course the MSM has little interest in publishing this sort of story (lets prentend this was Rush Limbaugh's EIB network for a sec shall we? Think that might have garnered a headline or two?) and this is being documented over at the Captain's Quarters blog here. Check out his scoreboard and then [please come back and tell me how the right wing has taken over media... no really... I am dying to hear the theory.

I only point this out so that you won't think that all I do nowadays is Guardrail poetry.

Darn link didn't take in my last comment : Here is the link to Franken's quote from "addresing this on his show"

August 9, 2005 -- AL Franken says 20,000 poor kids and old people weren't the only victims of an exec who allegedly arranged a Bronx charity's mega-buck "loan" to Air America.

"About three weeks into the life of Air America, I became an involuntary investor — I stopped being paid,"...

3 of my own comments on my own article... that just looks retarded.

i hate to break up the happy fizzies party here, but the story was covered in the dreaded msm (associated press/cleveland plain dealer Link)...it's being investigated by your favorite new york state attorney eliot spitzer...it appears to originate with the guy who nearly caused air america radio to go bellyup...aar has agreed to repay the money despite its claim that it isnt responsible for the debt (you'll have to read the article to see why)...and al franken's take on it is as follows: Al Franken, addressed the issue briefly on his show Monday. He called Cohen "a crook

I hate to break this to you, but NY really does have some Papers.  Granted they are not useful for much outisde the bathroom, but they do have them.  So it begs the question. Why did you have to link to a Cleveland paper? Could it be the premise of this article is correct?

I dont beleive greywar said it was receiving NO coverage, just that the coverage stunk based upon the nature of the scandal.  After all, he did find out about it as did I prior to this article being written.

i guess i musta missed the day the prodigal ap jumped the msm ship and they slaughtered a fattened calf in celebration. i'll remember that the next time i'm being told the ap is a bogus source.

ok I missed a semicolon after to.... You are going for grammar points now? Why not try for spelling errors or something like that since I have the occasional typo too.

If you re-read my response, you will see I did not say NO MSM, just that they were giving the story short shrift.  ANd if you knew the times carried the story, shy the hell did you site the Cleveland plains dealer?  Maybe because you never saw the story as it was burried on page a-17?

Finally, you might want to check out greywar's numbers as that is even more telling of the amount that the MSM will go to hide a scandal of one of their own.

check out greywar's numbers

the overwhelming ratio of stewart to aar stories might--just might--be due to the fact that a lotta people know who she is, what she does and how apparently greedy she's shown herself to be. aar, on the other hand, is hardly a household fixture. i woulda forgot what it was if they didn't show highlights on the sundance channel (i rarely listen to radio).

if yall are lucky, this will go big and help boost aar's audience.

Hmm i wonder how the number of article in the NYT at AAR launch compares to this coverage? Hmm a quick search without even having acces to the subscriber only bits gives me 16 articles concerning AAR prior to this little kerfuffle and now there is but 1... with a correction but I skipped counting the corrections in mine so I will skip their correction on the new issue as well.

16 to 1 hmmmm....

I bet the headlines would make interesting reading?

Hmmm.....Seems to me I am constantly being told about how AAR is number one with a Bullet, except when there is a scandal involved, and then no one knows about them.

Perhaps this is a cart before the horse scenerio?  As in, the left only wishes no one had heard about them whent hey are involved in scandal, but based upon the number of responses, it would appear that is just a pipe dream.

and here I thought Garafalo and Franken WERE just a couple of little kids who just need a million or so to exist comfortably in their poverty. So where's the scandal? ;~D
